Where is it?
Find it on [streetmap.co.uk] or [Google Maps].

Denefield School is on the edge of Tilehurst, away from Reading and before Purley.

Probably the most direct way to get there from the other side of town is to head through the middle and out along the Oxford Road (A329) towards Purley. Hang a left at the reasonably sized roundabout and head down Knowsley Road all the way to the end. At the T-Junction (mini-roundabout) turn left and the entrance to the school is just a little way up on the right hand side.

If, however, you are coming along Long Lane (from the Oxford Road), you will first pass Long Lane Primary School on your right.

Park in the first car-park you come to through the gates. The entrance to the sports hall is just round to the left.

The map on the right is from the Berkshire A-Z. Denefield Secondary School is just left of centre. Click on the map to enlarge it.

What's it like?
School sports hall with 4 badminton courts (2 or 3 courts for matches). There are loads of lines marked out - badminton are the yellow ones! (Or was it the orange? Maybe it was the blue?! If you're not careful, you'll be scoring 'goals' rather than points!) The walls are a sort of lime green / creamy combo and together with the lighting you may find the odd blind spot, although to be honest I found it ok (I think it may have been repainted recently). It is a school sports hall, so despite a quick brushing, it was still a tad 'gritty'. Having said that, I had some cracking games and found it to be ok - although not all our team shared the same view.

Nearest PubNearest Pub
Sorry, not sure - as we legged it all the way back to Woodford Park to have a beer with the rest of the club (it was club night after all). If you turn left out of the school gate and then right onto the Oxford Road (A329) heading towards Reading you're bound to find a pub soon. Pangbourne is just a couple of miles in the other direction (left out of the school the gate and left onto the Reading Road).
